It’s hard to believe that there are still railroad workers being injured on the job. Just recently an worker from Indiana won a $8.4 millon dollar jury verdict when he lost his leg. He was run over by a train. The jury did find the worker to be partially at fault for his injury and assessed his degree of fault at 10%. The railroad and the worker reached a settlement after the verdict for $7.9 million on condition that there would not be an appeal. Employers must continue to be held responsible whenever someone suffers an injury on the job.

There are far too many workers still being injured or killed at their workplaces or construction sites. Everyone needs to pay much more attention to worker safety and try to eliminate this problem. There is also a great need for OSHA to become more aggresive in monitoring worker’s safety.
