After getting roughly 150 complaints from Toyota Corolla owners saying that they were having trouble steering their vehicles, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration is opening an investigation into steering issues on half a million Corollas.

The vehicles affected are 2009 and 2010 Corollas, the NHTSA said.

Many of the complaints involve the car drifting at high speeds. Other owners complain of other issues including steering wheel vibrations or exaggerated motions from small steering inputs. –CNNMoney.com

According to former Toyota attorney Dimitrios Biller, Toyota frequently withheld relevant documents in product-liability suits filed against it. According to Biller, US Toyota units destroyed engineering and testing evidence that would have impacted more than 300 suits over SUV rollover accidents.

Toyota’s president has refused to appear at the Congressional hearings that have been scheduled for next week…it’s not too hard to suspect he’s hiding something huge.
