A 21-year-old man was killed in a devastating car crash that shut down northbound Routes 1 & 9 in Elizabeth, New Jersey, during the Wednesday morning rush hour.
Investigators say the driver, an Elizabeth resident, lost control of his mustang at 4am near the Newark border.
The mustang careened off the road and flipped in the highway grass median. Officials report the driver was pronounced on the scene.
Two other men were taken to the University Hospital in Newark. The cause of the crash is currently under investigation.
