The world seems to be crumbling around Toyota as, to top off a recall of millions of vehicles and a major lawsuit demanding the recall of millions more, it now considers issuing a recall on the Prius for faulty brakes.

All of this wouldn’t be happening so suddenly and chaotically if Toyota had been forthright with its customers from the time it first discovered problems with the accelerators and brakes on the models it’s now recalling. It’s known about problems with the 2010 Prius braking system last summer. But instead of notifying the public, Toyota deliberately kept us in the dark for months about potential hazards and let people die in crashes that could have been prevented with a modicum of honesty, transparency and decency.

Toyota’s behavior signals a problem far greater than being, as Transportation Secretary LaHood has put it, “a little safety deaf.” This company needs to stop hedging on its negligence and accept responsibility for the harms it has caused now, before more people are needlessly hurt.

If you are a Prius owner who’s experienced braking problems, please report any and all incidents to the NHTSA immediately. If you would like to learn more about your right to compensation for an accident caused by faulty brakes or other manufacturer negligence, please contact attorney Mike Ferrara at The Ferrara Law Firm.
