Five teens, aged 15 to 18, were seriously injured about midnight on a rural road in Cumberland County, New Jersey. They were flown by helicopter to area hospitals. Their car went out of control on a curve and struck several trees. There is no evidence of drinking yet, but that is not dispositive. Teen drivers have not fully developed their senses of judgment and that is why so many are injured and killed. We need stronger teen driving laws and better driver’s ed programs to help end these tragedies. Call or write your legislator and ask him or her to sponsor such corrective legislation. Allstate Insurance Company is supporting this effort and they are to be commended for it.
