A brother and sister were killed in a terrible car accident on Wednesday due to bad weather and an inexperienced driver. It appears the driver may have been traveling too fast for road conditions.

The scene was horrific on Freehold Road after a Nissan slammed sideways into a tree, killing the 17-year-old driver instantly and his 16-year-old sister in the passenger seat.

The speed limit on Freehold Road is 50 mph, but the mangled condition of the vehicle along with the snowy conditions at the time of the accident and the teenager’s driving inexperience, has led officials to believe he made a fatal mistake in judgement.

“He failed to negotiate the curve the proper way, came out and the car went sideways. He overcompensated and went into the tree,” said Ptl. Kevin Chesney.
