Woman and Her Boyfried Killed in Crash with Train

Comments Off

A lawsuit has been filed on behalf of a young woman who was killed when the motorcycle she was riding on collided with a Philadelphia bound New Jersey Transit train. Her boyfiend, the driver, was also killed.

The prelliminary investigation reveals that the train was speeding and that warning signs were blocked with trees and shrubs. Experts have determined that the accident was the fault of several contributing factors, including driver error, train conductor speed, and poor maintenance of the warning signs.

There are many grade crossing injuries and deaths each year that this case and others like it will hopefully help force railroads and municipalities to take corrective action. For a complete review of the safety issues at grade crossings see the official U.S. Government website.
