Toyota Knew about Failing Prius Brakes but Told No One.

Comments Off

Toyota has known about the faulty brakes on the 2010 Prius since summer 2009, when consumer complaints started coming in about a temporary loss of braking power when riding over rough terrain or potholes. It went so far as to fix the problem in models sold after January 2010.

But Toyota didn’t feel the need to tell the owners of 2010 Priuses with potential brake problems until now, when the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration declared it was opening an investigation into the brake issues.

Meanwhile, at least four crashes have occurred due to the faulty brakes. The NHTSA has received more than 120 consumer complaints about the problem. Rather than fudging its way out of this mess with swanky ad and public image campaigns, Toyota needs to take real responsibility for lying to its customers and causing accidents on the road.

If you are a Prius owner who’s experienced braking problems, please report any and all incidents to the NHTSA immediately. If you would like to learn more about your right to compensation for an accident caused by faulty brakes or other manufacturer negligence, please contact attorney Mike Ferrara at The Ferrara Law Firm.
